West Ham United are going to make a move for Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez in the coming days, according to reports.
The Hammers are currently without a boss after it was revealed on Wednesday David Moyes would not be appointed on a full time basis.
And it now appears as though David Gold and David Sullivan have honed in on the current Magpies manager.
According to The Sun, Sullivan remains on good terms with the former Real Madrid boss and is keen to appont him.
In fact, he was reportedly set to take charge of the east Londoners just before being appointed manager of the LaLiga side.
The former Liverpool boss reportedly has a £6 million buy-out clause in his contract and is desperately seeking assurances about the club’s transfer policy before committing.
After it was reported owner Mike Ashley is holding out for close to £400 million to sell the club, Benitez’s future remains shrouded in doubt.
West Ham are desperate to get their next managerial appointment right, with yet another season of discontent at the Olympic Stadium.
Former striker Tony Cottee came on the Hawksbee and Jacobs Show on Wednesday afternoon, and tore in the club’s owners over their handling of the Moyes situation.

The club’s hierarchy have also met with former Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini, but it is believed his lofty wage demands after working in China could be a stumbling block.
