Sporting Lisbon are ready to rival Arsenal’s move for Barcelona outcast Arda Turan, according to reports in Turkey.
The want-away midfielder has been attracting the interest of the Gunners ever since it became apparent he would likely leave the Nou Camp this summer.
However, the Premier League giants are likely to face stiff competition for his signature, with reports claiming that Sporting are keen on a deal for the 30-year-old.
It is suggested Sporting have already made an enquiry to Barcelona and are ready to hijack Arsenal’s attempts to land the Turkey international.
New Barca boss Ernesto Valverde is set for talks with the club’s hierarchy in the coming weeks to discuss transfer plans.
And despite having three years left on his current contract, Turan is not expected to feature in the Spanish giants long-term ambitions, meaning an exit is more than likely.
Given interest in the midfielder is set to grow, Arsenal must act quickly if they have any realistic hopes of capturing the influential star.
