MANILA, Philippines – Import Shawn Taggart poured 29 points with 10 rebounds, 4 assists, and two blocks as the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters outlasted the Mahindra Floodbuster in overtime, 99-95, on Sunday, March 19 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The defending champions copped their second win of the 2017 PBA Commissioner’s Cup, while the Floodbuster have yet to win in two games.
Beau Belga contributed a double-double effort of 12 points and 10 rebounds while James Yap added 12 markers as well off the bench.
Veteran shooter Jeff Chan, who lit up in the fourth, added 10 points on top of 7 rebounds.
Mahindra’s comeback young import James White likewise posted 29 markers along with 21 rebounds, two assists, and two blocks.
White delayed Mahindra’s downfall with a crucial block of a potential Chan game-winning layup towards the end of regulation. But he failed to knock down what could’ve been the game-winning jumper as time expired.
Gary David came alive with 13 points on 3 triples while Bong Galanza and Reden Celda had 10 markers apiece.
