Defending champions Toronto FC came from 3-0 down to claim a dramatic 4-4 draw with DC United in MLS on Wednesday.

Just one above rock-bottom DC in the Eastern Conference, Toronto rallied from 3-0 down in the first half to draw 3-3 with four minutes of regular time left.

Yamil Asad, Paul Arriola and Darren Mattocks scored before half-time for DC, but Toronto replied with goals from Jonathan Osorio, Victor Vazquez and Nick Hagglund.

Asad made it 4-3 in the 90th minute but Hagglund found the net two minutes later and, despite another attempt by Asad in the 96th, Toronto held on for the draw.

Ignacio Piatti scored twice as Montreal Impact beat Orlando City 3-0 in their search of points ahead of the World Cup break.

The Argentine midfielder put the Eastern Conference stragglers ahead in the fifth minute after Cristian Higuita was booked for contact with Saphir Taider in the box.

Orlando’s woes continued after half-time with an own goal by Amro Tarek, with Piatti scoring again in the second minute of injury time.

Josef Martinez and Hector Villalba helped table-toppers Atlanta United on their way to a 2-0 victory over fellow Eastern Conference side Columbus Crew.

Martinez’s 30th-minute header saw him go to ground after connecting with Jose Artur de Lima Junior and he was subbed at half-time for Romario Williams.

Villalba finished a Miguel Almiron cross from just inside the box to lift Atlanta further out of reach with 11 minutes of the match left.

Danny Hoesen’s double saw San Jose Earthquakes draw 2-2 with New England Revolution to end a four-game losing streak.

Diego Fagundez and Cristian Penilla scored for New England, who are fifth in the Eastern Conference.

One below San Jose in the Western Conference, the Colorado Rapids were in need of more points than the one they got from their 2-2 draw with Chicago Fire.

Dominique Badji and Tommy Smith scored for Colorado within the first 15 minutes of the game but they were quickly pegged back as Danny Wilson’s 21st-minute own goal was followed by Aleksandar Katai’s effort.

Former Manchester City star Bradley Wright-Phillips and Daniel Royer helped New York Red Bulls on their way to a 2-1 victory over Seattle Sounders.

Harry Shipp got Seattle on the scoreboard in the 87th minute, but it came too late for the visitors.
