Nottingham Forest manager Mark Warburton is delighted with the support given to him by new club owner Evangelos Marinakis.

The shipping magnate, who also owns Greek club Olympiacos, took control of Forest in May following five years of chaotic ownership under Fawaz Al-Hasawi and his family.

With Warburton catapulted into the managerial job in March 2017 – following his tumultuous exit from Rangers – the club only just avoided relegation to League One on the final day of last season.

The former Brentford boss has now begun the task of rebuilding the team and, despite the loss of top striker Britt Assombalonga to Middlesbrough, the club have brought in Daryl Murphy, Jason Cummings, Barrie McKay and Andreas Bouchalakis to try and push up the table.

Speaking to Jim White on talkSPORT, Warburton was full of praise for the new man at the top of the club and believes the right communication is in place for the team to be successful in the Championship.

“Mr Marinakis, I have obviously met him on a few occasions and the support we have been given – sometimes you say this statement too easily – but we have had fantastic support,” said Warburton.

“The new CEO has come over from Olympiacos who we have contact with and meet again this afternoon.

“The backing we have had, and the level of communication, is what you need at this level so we are delighted that is what we have received so far.

“We have seen the work been done on new changing rooms and players’ lounges and the nurses rooms – so much work has gone on off the pitch as well.”

The former Rangers manager also explained how pleased he was with the recruitment done so far.

And, in news that should please Forest fans, Warburton believes another two additions could be signed in the near future.

“The recruitment we are delighted with so far. Maybe one or two more, which we are hopeful of over the next 48 hours, but delighted so far,” he added.

“But it’s a tough season, it’s a very tough league and we have to make sure we give ourselves the best chance.”
