Everything has to change at Man United according to manager Jose Mourinho, who was speaking after seeing his side lose 2-1 to Sevilla.
Defeat brought their Champions League campaign to an end and now Mourinho will work on turning the club into a giant of European football again.
Asked if he would spend money on new players, Mourinho suggested he would.
“Everything, everything has to change. Everybody spends money, right? Not just us, right? It’s a natural process, every team invests. It’s not a change for the sake of changing. It’s a natural process and we’re not the only team that invests money, all clubs invest money in players.”
Earlier in the year, he identified positions in need of strengthening, with midfield being a key area considering Michael Carrick will not be there next season. “It’s there in midfield where we need to improve but to get a player to compensate the situation of Michael.
“If Fellaini leaves we have two gaps there so let’s see what happens. But in relation to Fellaini the good thing is he wants to stay with us and we would like him to stay with us. To sign a contract the person must be happy and let’s see.”
There could be a major overhaul, and here talkSPORT.com looks at one way they could look if Mourinho is given vast sums of money to spend again using a 4-3-3 formation.
