Photo by PBA Images MANILA, Philippines – The Magnolia Hotshots cruised to their second straight win by annihilating the Columbian Dyip, 126-101, in the 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Araneta Coliseum on Wednesday, May 16.

Import Vernon Macklin, who played his penultimate game for the Hotshots after securing a guaranteed contract in China’s National Basketball League, churned out 19 points and 8 rebounds to lead 5 other Magnolia players in double figures.

The Hotshots caught fire from the get-go for a comfortable 37-18 cushion after the first quarter and kept their foot on the gas to lead by as much 38 in the payoff period.

Ian Sangalang continued his impressive play for Magnolia, which improved to 2-1, with 18 points and 4 rebounds while Paul Lee added 17 points, 8 assists and two steals and Mark Barroca chipped in another 17 points to go with 6 assists.

Only 3 Columbian players breached double figures as the Dyip showed no signs of a comeback.

John Bailey Fields III had a herculean effort of 22 points and 19 boards but that did not prevent Columbian from falling to a 3-3 card.
