Roberto Mancini has admitted he is a fan of Leicester City – but he did not have any talks with them about becoming the club’s new manager.
The Italian, who led Manchester City to the Premier League title in 2012, is currently out of work after leaving Inter Milan in August 2016.
Following Leicester’s decision to axe Claudio Ranieri in February, Mancini was linked with taking over at the King Power.
The 52-year-old spent part of his playing career with the Foxes and it was reported he was keen on a return to England.
But now Mancini has revealed that, while he is a supporter of Leicester, he has never held talks with them about becoming their new boss.
“With Leicester, I also played for them and I’m a fan, but to say that I’ll manage them is a pretty long stretch,” Mancini told Gazzetta dello Sport.
“I’ve never had any kind of contact with their board.”
