Cleveland forward Kevin Love remains in the NBA’s concussion protocol
Kevin Love did not practice on Tuesday, but Cleveland Cavaliers coach Tyronn Lue said that the forward is feeling better. Love suffered a concussion in Game 2 of the NBA Finals, and he is following the league’s concussion protocol. Lue said that his status for Game 3 will not be known until Wednesday, however on Tuesday afternoon, the Cavs said Love has been upgraded to questionable:
Cavaliers forward Kevin Love (concussion) is listed as QUESTIONABLE (50/50) for tomorrow night’s NBA Finals Game Three vs. the Golden State Warriors at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland.
This is a difficult situation for the Cavaliers, who fell down 2-0 with a 110-77 loss on Sunday. Love is obviously one of their best scorers, and their offense has been a total mess against the Golden State Warriors. They have to hope that he will be available, or that they can make up for his absence with better defense.
With Love injured for most of last season’s playoffs, Cleveland gave big minutes to Tristan Thompson and Timofey Mozgov. Lue said Mozgov, who is barely playing in the postseason this time around, has to be ready, as the coaching staff has talked about reinserting him into the rotation. This could also be an opportunity for Channing Frye, who was a huge part of the Cavs’ run through the Eastern Conference but has only taken two shots in 11 minutes in the Finals.
