If you watched Sunday's 2016 Formula 1 Russian Grand Prix you no doubt savoured the on-track action. But there was also plenty happening away from the circuit in Sochi. Here's our social media roundup of just a few of the highlights…
Travelling by private jet may seem extravagant, but far less so when you share the plane with around a dozen friends and colleagues. How many F1 drivers (past and present) can you name?

Who does he think he’s kidding? Williams’ Felipe Massa – seen here celebrating with long-time colleague Rob Smedley – turned 35 earlier in the week.

Lewis Hamilton was in New York after being included in Time magazine’s list of the world’s 100 most influential people. Who to take to the gala? The world champion used all those powers of influence to persuade his mum to join him.
You looked beautiful last night, Mum. Proud to have you there with me. #time100gala #TIME100 pic.twitter.com/GlXIStHC7G

How does Renault’s Kevin Magnussen relax between Grands Prix? By driving another car, of course. And very quickly to boot.

Friday practice in Russia had the rare honour of featuring no less than three Mexican drivers, with Force India’s Sergio Perez, team tester Alfonso Celis, and Haas’s Esteban Gutierrez all taking to the Sochi Autodrom.

Local hero Daniil Kvyat headed up into the Krasnaya Polyana mountain range and to the Sanki Sliding Centre, home of Sochi’s Olympic bobsleigh run, where he spent a day with the Gold medal-winning Russian national bobsleigh team. They even found him one with appropriate livery.

Just another everyday occurrence in the F1 paddock as FOM CEO Bernie Ecclestone presents Mercedes’ Niki Lauda with a stuffed squirrel on a quad bike. You had to be there?

Along with team mate Sergio Perez, Force India’s Nico Hulkenberg chose Russia to mark his 100th Grand Prix appearance. Not sure why he is looking so angry…

Toro Rosso’s Max Verstappen displayed a youthful lack of inhibition as he chose to share a more intimate moment with his considerable Twitter following.

Force India weren’t the only ones baking over the Sochi weekend. Official F1 tyre suppliers Pirelli also got in the act with their own special centenary creation.
