Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has told Real Madrid to ‘look at another player’ as he insists goalkeeper David de Gea is going nowhere.
Madrid-born De Gea has been continuously linked with a move back to his hometown over the last three summers.
The 27-year-old was close to joining Real in August 2015, but the move fell through in the final hours of the transfer window as the paperwork was not completed in time.
The following month, De Gea he signed a new contract with the Red Devils that runs to the summer of 2019, with the option to extend for a further year.
Now, reports in Spain have claimed the LaLiga giants are planning to sign the glovesman once and for all this summer, as they seek to replace 31-year-old Costa Rican Keylor Navas.
But Mourinho has told his former club to look elsewhere for a new number one, insisting De Gea will not be leaving Old Trafford.
Speaking to Spanish TV channel La Sexta ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League clash against Sevilla, the Red Devils boss said: “I see him [De Gea] here.
“I do not know Real Madrid’s intentions but, if I were them, I would think of another player.”
De Gea has kept 15 clean sheets in the Premier League this season and four in the Champions League, including the first leg of their last-16 tie with Sevilla, which finished 0-0 in Spain, meaning it’s all to play for at Old Trafford on Tuesday night.
