Manchester United booked their place in the FA Cup quarter-finals after winning 2-0 at Huddersfield in a game where the football did not take centre stage.

Two strikes from Romelu Lukaku ensured the victory for United but Juan Mata’s disallowed goal just before the break grabbed all the headlines.

Referee Kevin Friend ruled the goal out following a review from VAR but the system caused controversy after TV replays featured odd and wavy lines instead of straight ones.

The decision did not affect the result, however, and United go on to face Brighton in the next round at Old Trafford.
