Yohan Croizet scored a stunning strike from distance just before halftime, but Sporting Kansas City could only hold on to draw the Houston Dynamo 1-1 in one of two simultaneous, split-squad matches between the clubs on Wednesday.
Memo Rodriguez equalized, also from deep, shortly after the break for the Dynamo, despite protestations from Sporting that his strike had not crossed the goal line after striking the underside of the crossbar.
In the teams’ other game in the 2019 MLS Preseason presented by Advocare, KC cruised to a 4-1 victory. The games were both teams’ last before beginning Concacaf Champions League play with Leg 1 of their round of 16 ties next week.
