Gareth Southgate has overseen a radical shift in the make-up of the England team, abandoning a host of experienced campaigners in favour of younger faces.

This became particularly apparent when the Three Lions’ 23-man squad for the 2018 World Cup was announced on Wednesday.

Liverpool’s 19-year-old Trent Alexander-Arnold is the headline inclusion among the youth and he will line up in Russia alongside the likes of Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Marcus Rashford.
