Each day on TENNIS.com, we’ll feature Tennis Channel’s Court Report, a rundown of the day that was in the sport—along with our thoughts on what’s happening on the courts around the world.

Roger Federer continues to be a man on a mission.

The 35-year-old faced Jack Sock in the semifinal of the BNP Paribas Open and got off to a roaring start, taking the first set 6-1. The American held his own throughout the second set, but at the end it was Federer who clinched the match in a tiebreak, for a final score of 6-1, 7-6(3).

Federer will be taking on a familiar foe in Sunday’s final: compatriot Stan Wawrinka. Playing perhaps his most complete match of the tournament, Wawrinka defeated Pablo Carreno Busta of Spain 6-3, 6-2.

Federer and Wawrinka will be playing their 23rd match against each other, with the head-to-head record heavily in Federer’s favor at 19-3. However, in their only meeting in a final, it was Wawrinka who came out on top, defeating Federer in the Monte Carlo final in 2015.

Their match will follow the women’s final between Svetlana Kuznetsova and Elena Vesnina.
