Forget about that couple getting married because Saturday afternoon is for the FA Cup final.
Chelsea and Manchester United will be battling it out for English football’s historic trophy at Wembley and considering the transfer window opens earlier than usual this year, talkSPORT.com wondered if it was possible for players to be signed in time for the match.
Can Manchester United and Chelsea sign someone and then play him in the FA Cup final?
No. FA rules mean their squads are already set for the season, which still hasn’t officially ended despite the window being open from 17 May.
Players bought between this time and 1 July will only become registered at their new club once the new term begins, which is more than six weeks away.
Last September, Premier League clubs voted to close the transfer window before the start of the season (9 August), with the change coming into effect prior to the start of the 2018/19 season.
