The Daily Telegraph are reporting that Arsenal are growing ‘increasingly confident’ of convincing the German international to renew his contract. Ozil’s contract is up in the summer, but Arsene Wenger said talks with the 29-year-old are “very much alive” and that there is “still an opportunity for him to stay”.

Another week of the January transfer window is coming to an end, and the futures of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil are still unclear.
Francis Coquelin left the club for Valenica in a £12 million deal on Thursday, while Greek defender Konstantinos Mavropanos remains the only incoming piece of business for the club.
Should either Sanchez or Ozil depart, Arsene Wenger has already confirmed the club will replace any big name players who leave.
