This was the worst start to a season Arsenal had endured in 18 years, having picked up just 19 points from their opening 15 fixtures. The Gunners were 10th in December, and were falling ever further behind the top four, and local rivals Tottenham. They were even beaten by League Two Bradford City in the League Cup! However, they turned on the style in the second half of the campaign losing just one match between January 23 and the end of the season. Incredibly, they won eight of their final 10 games – drawing the other two. By the end of the campaign, Arsenal had made up an incredible amount of ground on the top four, booking their place in the following year’s Champions League by finishing fourth – having won one more point than Spurs.
